Botanical Casting Workshop @ Wild Gorse Studios, Belladrum FRIDAY 9th MAY
I’m delighted to be partnering with the incredible Wild Gorse in Belladrum for a series of botanical casting workshops. Inverness.
FRIDAY 9th MAY 11 - 4
Please arrive ten minutes prior to the workshop starting so we can head straight out in the woodland at 11am. We may run over 4pm as the creative spirit can’t be shackled by time :)
During this workshop, I will guide you step by step through my botanical casting method, allowing you to create your own unique 20cm roundel. Together, we'll capture the delicate impressions of fresh flowers and foliage in clay before preserving them in plaster to form a stunning piece of art.
We will start the day with a leisurely stroll through the beautiful grounds surrounding the Wild Gorse Studio, where you’ll forage for plants and foliage to incorporate into your design. Back in the studio, I’ll teach you how to roll out clay and imprint your chosen botanicals into a bespoke composition. Once we pour plaster into your impression we will break for a delicious seasonal lunch provided by the Wild Gorse Cafe.
While you wait for the plaster to dry and you will have a chance to explore the Wild Gorse shop and grounds further before revealing and cleaning the casts in the afternoon. You will head home with your own botanical plaster cast artwork made using seasonal home grown Wild Gorse flowers as well as a new crafting skill to experiment with at home.
We’re excited to invite you to this creative workshop and look forward to seeing the beautiful casts at the end of the session. No prior casting experience is necessary—this is a beginner-friendly session. We’ll be foraging outdoors, so please bring sturdy shoes, and don’t forget an old shirt to wear during the messy casting process. A delicious seasonal lunch will be provided by the team in the Wild Gorse Kitchen and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.
